Our story began with a farm

We left Canada in 2019. In 2020 we took over Finca Escamequita, “La Hacienda”: a century-old cattle farm that produced milk and cheese.

We planted thousands of trees and more than twenty kinds of fruit, coffee, vegetable gardens and medicinal herbs. Twenty of the seventy-five acres are back to forest, and the soil, rich in water again, gives exceptional organic produce.

We built small casitas to welcome travellers from everywhere, close to the beaches. Then we chose the best part of the land for Las Planadas, so that others could join us.

We grow organic

After a hundred years of cattle, the soil is alive again. Jesús, our farmer, tends the gardens; guests find a welcome basket of what the finca gives: starfruit, anona, pitaya, ayote, papaya, tomatoes, radishes, cucumbers.
